TYPES OF FLAT ROOF

Depending on your requirements and your budget we have 3 main choices when it comes to flat roof surfacing, Rubber, Fibre Glass or Felt:

GRP FIBREGLASS FLAT ROOF

Glass Reinforced Plastic, or GRP, consists of polyester resin and glass fibres, which create an extremely hardwearing laminate. It is applied on specialised roof board and painted on in layers. GRP fibreglass is one of the most popular forms of flat roof systems because it is an exceptionally strong, lightweight material that can be installed to bear the weight of foot traffic which is ideal for balconies, terraces and roof gardens.

EPDM RUBBER FLAT ROOF

EPDM rubber roofing is a cost effective option. It is a one-piece rubber membrane sheet, cut to fit your flat roof. Rubber roofing is popular due to its durability and flexibility, making it easy to shape to almost any surface.

EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer) is recognized for its strength and durability. When used for flat roofing, it offers fantastic thermal insulation and water resistance.

FELT FLAT ROOF

Advancements in technology mean that the torch on felt is suitable for any flat roof application. Torch-on felt roofing is applied in layers of modified bitumen felt.

The layers are “welded” onto the roof surface to create a waterproof seal. Building regulations state that three layers of felt are required for habitable areas of a property and two layers for sheds, garages, outbuildings, etc.
